Gordon Stimson is a Master Plumber & Gas Fitter who runs his own business. When he’s not working you will find him on the water paddling a wide range of watercraft.
In his early years, it was surfboards and windsurfers but as time has progressed he has transitioned to standup paddleboards, foil boards, and now outrigger canoes.
Gordon (Stimo as he is known in WA) has been a West Australian State
Paddleboard Champion, has competed at Nationals in both downwind and tech
racing is a SUP team rider for DC Paddleboards and has been President of the
Stand Up Paddleboard Association of Western Australia (SUPWA). He has also
completed his Level 2 judging certification with Surfing Australia. Following this hit list, the transition to OC paddling was inevitable. The introduction to OC paddling started as a rehabilitation program with good friend Adam Fahey. Adam a keen paddleboarder, suffered a workplace injury and could no longer paddle, so the OC2 was purchased in an effort to keep him on the water. The first goal to stay in the boat, the second goal to paddle in 2018 "The Doctor" in Perth, the biggest downwind ocean race in the world, 28km open ocean from Rottnest to Sorrento, downwind bumps all the way!
From OC6, OC2 and to OC1, Stimo has proved himself a very capable and
competitive paddler in the outrigger community in a very short time. Stimo spends most days downwind paddling, however, it can be guaranteed he will also be found somewhere helping out the crew with anything paddling related - whatever craft they ride!
